Dr. Pauline Giffin

Veterinarian and Owner

As the proud owners of Waverley Animal Hospital, my husband and I wish to personally welcome you and your family to our community veterinary practice. It is our profound pleasure to be entrusted with the care of your pets. Rest assured that when you are with us, you are with family!

I cannot recall a time in life when I did not love to be surrounded by animals. It was my dream as a child to be able to work with animals and help them in any way that I could. It was with great joy that I graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2003 and I have had the amazing opportunity to serve HRM as a small animal veterinarian since 2004. While I love all aspects of veterinary medicine, I have a keen interest in internal medicine, dermatology, and behaviour. Working on behalf of stray, homeless, and abandoned animals has always been a passion of mine and I am committed to helping rescue animals in need whenever I can.

I am originally from Dartmouth and my husband, John, and I moved to the Village of Waverley, NS almost 20 years ago. We immediately fell in love with the old-world charm, beauty and amazing community spirit of the area. Here, we are raising 2 wonderful daughters surrounded by the love of many delightful pets in our home… 1 dog, 1 cat, 1 hamster, 2 guinea pigs and many foster kitties! From my family to yours, WELCOME and we cannot wait to meet you!

Dr. Nicolle Fisher

Associate Veterinarian

Hello! My name is Nicolle and my love for animals ignited at a young age as I knew I wanted a career helping, caring or working with animals. I graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2017 and then moved to Cold Lake, AB where I practiced small animal medicine. I moved back to Nova Scotia in 2019 and worked in the Annapolis Valley before finding my home at Waverley Animal Hospital. I have a special interest in feline medicine, ophthalmology and diagnostic imaging.

I am originally from Middleton, NS and live with my husband, Morgan, and our two cats, Hope and Toby. In our spare time, we enjoy activities that involve the outdoors including camping, fishing and 4-wheeling. I am very excited to be part of the Waverley Team and look forward to meeting you and your beloved pets!

Dr. Gisela Cucchetti

Associate Veterinarian

Hi! My name is Gisela and I’m originally from Argentina. I graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the beautiful island of St. Kitts. Since graduating in 2015, I’ve been working in emergency and critical medicine in the United States.

My husband and I moved to Nova Scotia in 2019 and we welcomed our first baby boy last year. We enjoy spending our time outdoors with our three dogs: Hubble, the golden retriever, Buddy, the three-legged black lab mix and Toven, my island coconut retriever.

I look forward to meeting you and your furry kids at Waverley Animal Hospital!

Brandon

Registered Veterinary Technician

Hello! My name is Brandon and I’m one of the Registered Veterinary Technicians here at WAH. I started my career in the vet world back in 2012 when I completed the Veterinary Assistant program and have been working in clinics ever since. I knew right away that this career was the right fit for me. I loved it so much that I decided to go back in school, and competed the Veterinary Technician program in 2018. I am passionate about our patients and enjoy the hands-on care that I’m able to provide being a technician. When not at work I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, our dog Duckie and our 3 cats – Greyson, Ziggy, and Bronte.

Anna

Veterinary Technician

Hi there, my name is Anna! I had the pleasure of growing up with a family dog and as he got older and started declining, all I wanted to do is help and take care of him but didn’t know how. He is the biggest reason as to why I decided to go into the veterinary field.

I am originally from a small town in Cape Breton. I moved to Halifax and graduated from Maritime Business College as a Veterinary Technician in 2021.

During my clinical rotations at Hope for Wildlife I adopted a rescue bunny named Nibblet. He was stuck in a lobster trap with a broken leg for weeks. When he arrived to HFW, they had to amputate one of his hind legs and get round the clock care for many weeks. I call him my miracle bunny.

My favourite part about my job is comforting our patients with lots of love and snuggles! I also like doing diagnostics, especially lab work.

During my free time, I enjoy going on hikes,  playing/watching sports, baking, and snuggling up to my fur baby, Ellie who is a rescue kitten I took home recently!

Katelynn

Veterinary Assistant

Katelynn graduated from Maritime Business College in 2011 and has since been working in the veterinary field. As a veterinary assistant, Katelynn can be found in all areas of the hospital.  She makes sure to give extra special love and attention to all our patients.  Recently she can also be found occasionally working at the Metro Animal Emergency Clinic.

Katelynn enjoys playing soccer and spending time with her family including her many fur babies.

Brooklyn

Veterinary Assistant

Brooklyn graduated from Maritime Business College as a Veterinary Assistant in 2015 and has been working in the veterinary industry since.   She started her journey as a veterinary assistant because of her love for her first dog Ozzy.  Brooklyn wanted to make sure that he had the best life and that she could provide that for not only her pets but for others and their pets as well.

Brooklyn grew up in the little town of Meagher’s Grant, where she lives with her Pitbull mix, Ace and the most loving cat named Lou.  Brooklyn enjoys spending her free time hiking with her dog, Ace, fishing, or four-wheeling.

Penny

Veterinary Assistant

Being from Newfoundland, I always loved the outdoors and animals. I don’t remember a time where I didn’t have a dog or cat running around or even rodents…pet ones of course!!! For as long as I can remember, I wanted a job in the animal field. Helping animals was my passion! I came to NS in 2003 and soon after, I started as an Animal Control Officer. After that, I worked in a vet clinic for almost a decade as a receptionist/veterinary assistant. This was everything I had hoped and dreamed it would be. I love meeting people and all the adorable fur kids. Whether it is your first visit with that new puppy or kitten to watching them grow up, to routine visits, I am always happy to be there for you and your beloved pet! I have a daughter who is 3 years old. She is already saying when she grows up, she wants to be an animal doctor! She’s loves her animals just as much as I do!! Future veterinarian in training!! I have 2 dogs: Keira-15 years old & Shyla – 14 years old! They just recently got a new kitty brother named Brody. He fits in with our family perfectly and let us not forget about my boy, Diablo, who is a corn snake…he is 10 years old now!

Katie

Client Care Specialist

Katie moved to the area from the UK with her family thirteen years ago and has been able to pursue her lifelong love of and talent for caring for animals both inside and outside of her work. Caring for pets has become a calling for Katie, she feels that the unconditional love we get from our pets is the most rewarding part of being around animals. Locally she worked in a dog grooming shop for over five years and more recently a pet store providing pet-care advice and assistance to the community. She is very excited to be on this new journey helping pet parents care for their fury companions.

In her personal time, she has fostered many dogs in desperate situations with special needs for local rescue organizations, helping them find their forever homes. Katie has had many pets of her own including rescues and currently cherishes her three dogs and three cats. Katie lives with her husband and two daughters in Fall River and frequently fosters kitties for Spay Day HRM.
